Macrame Installation for a Wellbeing Studio

Bespoke design, handmade pieces and on-site installation by Samra Knots.

The Project

Harmonic Haven is a new wellbeing studio at Eagle House in Hastings, East Sussex, created as a peaceful space for rest, reconnection and wellbeing.

Samra Knots was commissioned to design, handcraft and install six bespoke oversized macrame plant hangers in varying lengths for the studio.

Each piece was created to work with the studio’s existing interior, bringing softness, natural texture and a handcrafted element to the contemporary setting.

The Installation

The six plant hangers were positioned at varying heights to create movement and balance across the space.

The pieces were designed around the existing ceiling structure and installed on site, with each hanger positioned individually to complement the furniture, plants and proportions of the studio.

Six individually handmade macrame plant hangers, ranging from approximately 1.7m to 2.6m in length, feature different knot patterns while forming a cohesive installation across the studio.

I designed and handmade each piece, then completed the installation on site at Harmonic Haven.

Working at this scale meant considering not only the individual knot designs, but also the different hanging heights, positioning and overall balance of the installation within the space.
